According to a new report by Calcalist, a daily Israli buisness newspaper, Apple wants to open a research center in Haifa at the Matam technology district, following its acquisition of NAND flash technology provider Anobit for a reported $390 million.

The company has reportedly received “several hundred resumes” for multiple engineering positions. Apple is specifically seeking hardware engineers in chip development with strong emphasis on electrical circuits, analogue and hardware testing and verification.  This could mean the start  to the design of the “A6″ chip supposedly being ported to the iPad 3.

Calcalist reported back in December of last year that Apple sent out its VP of R&D, Ed Frank, to investigating possibilities of an Apple-run development center.

Apple CEO Tim Cook talked with investors during yesterday’s earnings call about the acquisition.

Anobit has fantastic technical talent, We’re really fortunate to have them join us.
